How-To Instructions for Wedding Exit Products

How To Light Wedding Sparklers

The initial lighting process can vary but there are a few do's and don'ts that are essential:

  • a few lighters or BBQ lighters are required (matches not recommended)
  • make sure every guest has an unlit sparkler before beginning lighting process
  • do NOT pass out lit sparklers
  • a few reliable guests will be needed (preferably family members)
  • designated "pick up" and "drop off" locations are recommended

Follow these steps on how to light your wedding sparklers for your wedding sparkler exit:

  • each guest should "pick up" their own sparkler from a designated location
  • separate your guests into two parallel lines
  • assign each line two people (one person on each end) for a total of four people
  • each of the four people will each have a sparkler and lighter
  • each of the four people will light their sparkler and use it to light the rest of the sparklers
  • instruct each of the four people to work their way down their line
  • all sparklers should be lit by the time each person reaches the center of their line
  • after sparkler exit is over, instruct all guests to "drop off" their used sparklers at a designated location of your choosing

Wedding sparklers are best when used outdoors since there are no limitations. If used indoors, you are limited to the number of sparklers you can use as well as the sparkler size and room size. Our recommendation is to only use wedding sparklers outdoors.

How To Light Cake Sparklers

We do NOT recommend lighting cake sparklers and then placing them on your cake or dessert.

  • you will need matches or BBQ lighter (traditional lighter not recommended)
  • make sure the red tip base and cylinder parts are tightly connected
  • red tip base will pierce cake/ dessert and secure sparkler
  • cake sparkler will release a 6-8 inch sparkle, so make sure it aims upward or at a slight angle away from anyone
  • flat, top end of cake sparkler has a thin paper seal
  • aim flame from match or BBQ lighter onto the flat, top end of cake sparkler
  • after a few seconds, sparkles will erupt upwards

Cake Sparklers remain hot for several minutes after being used, so make sure you do NOT throw them into the trash bin while it is still hot. You are more than welcome to run cold water to help cool the sparkler. We recommend leaving the used, hot sparkler in the sink until it cools.

Cake sparklers can be used both indoors and outdoors. If used indoors, we recommend using no more than 3 at a time in an open floor plan. There will be a bit of a firework scent afterwards, but as long as there is an air flow, the scent will dissipate in a few minutes.

How To Light Heart Sparklers

Similar to lighting wedding sparklers, there are a few rules we highly recommend you follow:

  • a few lighters or BBQ lighters are required (matches not recommended)
  • a few regular sparklers are recommended
  • make sure every guest has an unlit sparkler before beginning lighting process
  • do NOT pass out lit sparklers
  • a few reliable guests will be needed (preferably family members)
  • designated "pick up" and "drop off" locations are recommended

Follow these steps on how to light your wedding heart sparklers for your wedding heart sparkler exit:

  • each guest should "pick up" their own heart sparkler from a designated location
  • separate your guests into two parallel lines
  • assign each line two people (one person on each end) for a total of four people
  • each of the four people will each have a regular sparkler and lighter
The following step is very important and differs from regular sparklers:
  • when lighting a heart sparkler with a regular sparkler, make sure you light the "top, center part" where both halves of the heart meet
the heart sparkler will then emit two even sparkles in opposite directions
Continue these same steps as if you were lighting regular wedding sparklers:
    • each of the four people will light their regular sparkler and use it to light the rest of the heart sparklers (as instructed earlier)
    • instruct each of the four people to work their way down their line
    • all heart sparklers should be lit by the time each person reaches the center of their line
    • after sparkler exit is over, instruct all guests to "drop off" their used sparklers at a designated location of your choosing

Because of the limited "sparkle time" of heart sparklers (roughly 45 seconds), we normally do not recommend it as a wedding sparkler exit product. On the other hand, if your wedding party is rather intimate or you feel you can effectively plan the lighting process and have your sparklers lit in 20-25 seconds, this product as as great as regular sparklers.

Our personal recommendation is to use them for fun photo-shoots, first kiss wedding moments, or a quick wedding sendoff.

Heart sparklers are best when used outdoors since there are no limitations. If used indoors, you are limited to the number of sparklers you can use as well as the room size. Our recommendation is to only use heart sparklers outdoors.
